On The Easel Featured

This page is to give you a little of my experience of being an artist, sometimes current, sometimes many years past, often just for fun. I intend to show preliminary sketches, in-the-moment sketches, commissioned sketches and stages of oil paintings and pastel paintings. Rarely will they be in real time. I will add some tips for other artists and for framing where relevant.

Mid stages of pastel painting, I often explore what works for framing early on. This helps bring it all together.

Tip for artists; Thought I’d show you how I hang pastels up with a skirt hanger before they are framed. This is because, when I first started using pastels, I would leave them on a high shelf, until one day my cute-as-a-button, black and white cat showed up resplendent in purple and green! You guessed it! If you have a cat, don’t lay them flat!
